New jobs are coming to Wingo Park in Spartanburg County.
Michigan-based Pacific Industrial Development Corp. plans to invest $9,75 million and create 53 new full-time jobs. The company plans to manufacture specialized chemicals in a building at the park formerly used by the Coca-Cola Co. for recycling.
Spartanburg County Councilman David Britt said the building has been vacant for the past two years. Pacific plans to retrofit the building and begin hiring soon with operations expected to begin in June, he said.
"The key thing is we are excited about it," Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President Carter Smith said. "They are taking an existing building and repurposing it."
Spartanburg County Councilman Justin Bradley said the park is likely to continue to attract more business as park revitalization efforts continue.
